Native Hongkonger Yaz Pleitgen started her career in media in 2001. She is responsible for the creative development and production of branded content at Morning Studio.
Before joining SCMP, Yaz founded and managed a creative studio for seven years making experimental shorts, visual essays and documentaries. Her work has won numerous awards and been featured at film festivals, classical music concerts, art galleries, magazines and on television.
She previously spent more than a decade leading teams producing commercials, campaigns, digital content and television programmes for News Corp’s regional networks such as Channel V, National Geographic, and FOX, as well as for Turner’s entertainment networks, including Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers, Boomerang, Pogo and Turner Classic Movies.
As part of Pogo’s launch team, Yaz worked extensively on Sesame Street for the Indian market. She has also directed integrated marketing campaigns for global brands such as Canon, Sony, Nokia, Adidas, Samsung, Mattel, Prudential, and LG, and has also served as casting director for various small- and large-scale feature film productions in Asia. Yaz always aims to push the conceptual and technical boundaries of her work and to challenge her own biases and assumptions. She believes that “… beyond real-life human interaction, the moving image is the most powerful form of communication”.
